Small in stature but big at heart, Verghese is a Good Samaritan to the letter. He expressed his love for everything in the world excepting quantitative courses. Hurrying around the campus from dorm to library to retreat mess to classroom and back to the dorm is his speciality, Verghese is so kind he even refused to swot those black beetles and crickets that arrived in his room, in spite of being cognisant of their distinctive competence for mercilessly keeping one awake throughout the night by providing stereo-music.
