I started (along with more than half a dozen batch mates) in Citi and loved the immediate overseas 3 month training in Greece, and by the time I came back I was a confirmed banker (pretty much for life). Attracted by the boom in the Gulf, I moved in 1980 to Dubai for 5 years with a Canadian bank, who then transferred me to Toronto. We lived there for 5 years and the lure of proximity to ageing parents brought us back to Dubai with a British bank. Worked in a number of banking organizations and now, I head the ME business for ANZ bank.

 

Married my life partner Anjana in 1982 (she is from Calcutta) and had two kids, both born in Dubai in our first stint. 

 

My older one Alpana is an MBA from HBS and now works for HBS in Dubai covering the ME for developing case material. 

 

My son, Ashwin is an undergrad from Wharton & has worked in the same hedge fund in Greenwich for 7 years since graduating and lives in Manhattan.

 

Alpana is married for over 2 years now, and Ashwin has just proposed to his girlfriend and marriage plans indicate a May 2017 timeline.

 

My abiding interests are music (Bolly, jazz, Indian classical & Sufi), reading (fiction, history & other non-fiction), movies and travel (clocked over 50 countries and counting!). My son is an epicurean & from him I am evolving my palate into different cuisines and fine dining as well.
