While at IIMA, Rajendra and Pradeep decided to bring their wives to Ahmedabad.  They shared a two room flat on rent outside the campus. The two families had common kitchen, one room served as bed cum drawing room and the other one as bed cum dining room.   Rajendra got his first job with IPCL in marketing through campus placement. During next 15 years he made few changes in his job.  Their only child a daughter Kavita was born after 15 years of their marriage.

Unfortunately, Rajendra suffered a series of illnesses- schizophrenia attack, followed by depression. Before he could recover fully he had brain hemorrhage leaving left part of the body paralyzed. He recovered but after effects of paralysis continued. The misfortunes did not stop there. He fell down breaking his hip bone and had to be hospitalized for hip bone surgery.
