After IIMA, joined National Planning Commission in the Industry Department as non-official consultant. There was some glamour attached to Planning commission those days. Despite the possibility of a permanent job, the intent was to take up a marketing job in private sector. After working in Planning Commission for short time, worked in UK, USA and German MNCs with strong learning and contributions. All assignments were in Chemical specialty industries.

Foseco India: 1978-2003 in various roles with last being Head-Marketing and Technology. Working with them during one of the largest business process reengineering in India was a great experience. Also representing India in global core committee of two product lines and making a difference in India with excellent growth. Foseco were a leader those days in metallurgical chemicals. Profit center head role for WR was also very rewarding.

ChemTrend India: Invited to work in this start-up unit was a fulfilling experience. CT was part of BP like Foseco that time. Later it was taken over by German Freudenberg Group. Building business was main goal and CT India grew by leaps and bounds and surprised CT International and Freudenberg. Working with CT International in developing products for India to meet different technology levels was very satisfying. CT business in only in release agents and sales people are on top of the totem pole with do or die sales attitude.

SurTec India: Fruedenberg took over ST International globally in 2006, but the Indian unit in WEST did not run on expected lines. I was asked to take up MD’s position to turn around the company. That was a great opportunity and I could meet turn around and transformation goals well. I stepped down in 2017 after completing succession. Retired in May 2018, after completing a market analysis assignment with the group. I must say the principles of management learnt at IIMA were very useful in my career.

While working in Planning commission did one German language course in Max Mueller, in Foseco completed PG Diploma in computer management. My wife Bhanu was/is always a great support and helped me coping up with stresses and strains well.  Our Manas Sarovar visit in 2011 with group of friends also happened because of her support. I enjoyed participating competitions and discovered interest in composing music in college. These remained with me. I wrote many technical and management case studies for both internal training and participating in industry International conferences. Immediately after stepping down from SurTec, managed an album of my own songs. I also did few invited lectures in Pune institutions and marketing projects with group companies.

On the family front, I got married in 1979  and have two sons. Pavan is a specialist in User Interface coding technologies and he recently returned to India. Karthik was also in Europe for few years and retuned to India. He is in SCM area. Both work with the same companies they were working when in USA and Germany respectively in India now. Pavan is married with two children. Bhanu is also a post graduate in Botany. She is the home maker and minister. She mostly manages the housing society in Pune, where we stay. She is a natural mentor and most of her friends benefit from her services. I attach a few 2018 photos of family.
