After spending 14 years in Berger Paints (Chennai and Calcutta), I worked for IDL Chemicals in Vizag, ITW Signode in Hyderabad, Torrent Power AEC in Ahmedabad and XS Real Properties in Chennai. I enjoyed my stint in Torrent Power AEC for 5 years, as head of distribution (of electricity).

 

In the year 2009, after my retirement, I joined WORTH Trust in Katpadi, Tamilnadu as CEO/ Director and served for a little over 5 years. I cherished my stint in WORTH Trust as it was engaged in the rehabilitation of differently abled persons. I also received an award from the Hon’ble President of India, on behalf of WORTH Trust, as the ‘best rehabilitation institution in India for the year 2012’. 

 

Now I plan to join as “Chief Administrator” for the blood-bank in Voluntary Health Services ( VHS) Chennai, effective Nov 14, 2016.

 

My wife Saraswathy who had joined State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer, retired in May 2015 as Chief General Manager.

 

We have 2 sons Arun (age 32 years) and Kailash (30 years). Arun completed Ph.D in Biofuels from Purdue University in the US and is currently working for a Biotech firm in California. Kailash, after completing his management programme in ISB, Hyderabad, works for Amazon, based in Hyderabad. He has married a batchmate of his from ISB, incidentally a Bengali from Kanpur.

 

Both Saraswathy and I are interested in Carnatic music and we attend music concerts in Chennai city and compete with each other on identification of ragas. We have also joined the “Sanskrit College" in Mylapore, Chennai as students and we have 4 hours of Sanskrit classes per week to prepare us to appear for a Certificate examination conducted by Madras University.
