Usha Martin Black and Carborundum Universal were the breeding grounds to develop my B TO B Marketing skills and my postings were in Ranchi, Kolkata, Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore! A great experience living in different cities and handling a variety of assignments in sales and marketing!

 

After 12 years of Globetrotting(!) in India, I decided to settle down and chose Bangalore for obvious reasons!. (I was Bangalored long before the start of the IT Revolution!) I joined a “start up” called OKS Speciality Lubricants, a German Lubricant Company, in 1989, marketed the then new concept of speciality lubricants in India and developed from scratch, the market which today has grown into an 1000 crore one.

 

In the year 2001, the entrepreneurial bug bit me and I started two ventures – Optimair – an energy services company and Spatik – a placement, training and management consultancy firm, along with a couple of my friends. During this period, I also led the start up of another German Lubricant company -Carl Bechem and managed it successfully for 14 years.

 

In April 2016, we wound up operations of both Spatik and Optimair and I also gave up the assignment with Carl Bechem. Right now, my involvement in the corporate world is restricted to attending Board meetings as Director in the Boards of two Lubricant companies in India.

 

Other than this, I am associated with 

 

1. As Managing trustee of Balabhavan Trust, an NGO supported by Rotary, managing a private school for the lower income group in Channapatna (60 kms. from Bangalore)

2. As trustee on the board of Amogh - an NGO providing vocational training and job opportunities for mentally challenged boys and girls. 

 

3. As a volunteer in Akshayapatra, the NGO providing midday meal to more than 1.6 Million school children per day!

 

Married to Rajee – a biochemist turned banker turned house wife – presently spending her time managing the house, her husband and a garden full of orchids!

 

Son, Arjun, in the process of completing his PhD in Law from University of Keele, UK (ready to defend his thesis in Jan 2017) and his wife Sowmya, a post graduate in Law from UCL, London. After a stint of 4 years in UK, both are now back in Bangalore pursuing their careers in law firms in Bangalore.
