Lalit Khanna is famous for kicking off the cooperative Student Stores to give the residents on the campus next door services at low cost.

Regret that he is no more. He died of blood cancer (Acute Myeloid Leukaemia) and kidney failure on 31 July 2012 after 20 days of hospitalisation. His exit from this world was shortly after his 58th birthday on 11 July.

The spacious Raja Ram Mohan Rai Memorial Hall on Rouse Avenue Lane near ITO on 4th August was full to pay tributes to him in a Condolence Meeting. Escorts was represented at the meeting by Ritu Nanda apart from the IIMA alumni. In her speech, she expressed her gratitude to Lalit from whom at she learnt so much.

Lalit started his career after IIMA with Punjab National Bank. After some years, he moved to Escorts where he continued for the rest of his career. He was at the helm of Escorts Securities Ltd as Executive Director in his last part of a long career with the group.

Lalit had many faces in his professional and personal life. He was a good caring friend. A born networker who kept many groups alive, including his own peers in IIMA, in Delhi, together by constant communication and mutual help. He was a master at getting people together to eat, talk, discuss and enjoy the warmth of personal interactions. The many parties at Noida Golf Club and other venues are memorable signs of this.

Lalit was a family man, he vigorously supported his brothers, sisters and mother through their education and family life. He was married to Tripti, PhD from IIMA in Organisation Behaviour. They did not have any children and separated some years before his demise. A painful experience for a man who was always gregarious and seeking company.

His demise was too soon. We wanted him around for a long, long time. The gap left by Lalit in our lives will always remain open, none can take his place.
