After graduating, I decided to pursue a Banking career. Soon the focus was Corporate Banking. It started with a very short stint of 4 months with Bank of America (along with Abhaya, Chitra and Ramdas), then moving to Citibank (to join 8 others from our batch). From 1981 to 2012 I had the opportunity to work with one of the oldest and historic banks in the Middle East, Arab Bank Group. 27 years of this was in Bahrain and 4 years in London.

 

While my work involved a good bit of travel, sometimes to exotic locations like Almaty, Gabarone, Tabouk, Urulsk etc., it also allowed me to stay in touch with some of my IIMA batchmates.

 

Anna and I married in 1977. We have a daughter Arati and a son Akshay. Arati is married to Ludvig and they live in Stockholm. Akshay is married to Kavita and they live in London. Anna and I moved back to Bangalore in 2012.

 

In March 2015 soon after my 60th birthday, I decided to start my second innings. I am now helping Ujjivan, a microfinance company with 465 branches, 9000 employees and 4 million customers transition into a Small Finance Bank.
