GAURAV BHALLA
D17
From the Louis Kahn Plaza graduation bash to the Richardson-Vicks annual marketing planning meeting in Mahabaleshwar, I don’t think I have stopped moving since; the gypsy life continues.
Vicks, Nestle, then to the US for a Ph.D.; since then, I have worked on three continents, done business in over 30 countries, and have experienced business life as a MNC marketing, strategy, and innovation executive, global business consultant, entrepreneur (G. Bhalla & Associates, and Knowledge Kinetics), academic, executive education specialist (Duke, ISB, SMU, Georgetown, and University of Maryland), author (see below; published in both business and literature, my new book on Soulful Leadership launched on Sept. 7, 2017 and conference speaker/presenter.
I spend my days consulting, teaching, writing, and speaking at conferences. I exercise daily, play golf and tennis when I can, see top grade movies, listen to all sorts of music, and read. I am a self-appointed expert on poetry, rugs, blues and jazz, single malts, and Bordeauxs, and I make delicious omelettes.
As for my guitar...hmm.
Several of you have met Dilnavaz, my wife – the world calls her Dilly – and said, “I lucked out.” Yup, I sure did. A former UNICEF girl, she is a trained early education and child psychology specialist.
Our daughter, Panah, is an environmental fanatic and activist, and specializes in water conservation, sustainable agriculture, and electronics waste recycling. Her husband, Eric Stauffer, is a genuinely decent human being, has a Ph.D. in Neuroscience and works for Gilead Sciences.
They love being in and with nature – mountain biking, hiking, gardening, running, and more; all more important than owning things (why buy a house, who needs a car?). More power to them, as they “Light their own fire.”
I have attached some photos, including a blast from the past (as for the batch mates, go figure who’s who). In the classic Dickensian sense, it has been the worst of times, and the best of times. Yet, still fit and driven, I sincerely believe my best years lie ahead.
C’mon Gaurav, get your bloody --- moving!
