Life has been very smooth, straight with very few ups and own after IIMA. It has been very satisfying and peaceful. Achieved a lot, lost a lot but at the end, I had 8 hours of peaceful sleep and sound health. My supporting family and friends are my biggest strength. My wife and grand kids are my source of energy and reasons to live.
After IIMA. I joined Blue Star limited. My boss was in tears when I submitted him my resignation. He expressed his gratitudes to my wife when he accidentally met her for the first time after 30 years at Bombay airport.
I was among top 5 confident of Mr. Birla. He trusted me his international business. I used to travel overseas for 50% of the time. In 1984, he deputed me to USA to look after his entire American operation (Canada, USA, South America and Central America) as head (executive director) Thanks to my parents and almighty god, did very good. Learnt a lot.
In 1989, started my own business in USA. Did very good. Earned market goodwill, confidence and faith. My word alone means a lot to my business colleagues and friends. This is my major achievement in my life after IIMA.
My kids have achieved a lot in financial markets. I am very proud to write that Goldman Sachs approached to Vishal Garg for equity partnership. My daughter in law (Ms Sarita James) is worth googling. Vikas Garg is a very successful hedge fund operator in Singapore Sonia Palmieri Garg is very adventurous in her venture funding.
Our family had a listed company in Nasdaq (market value $ 450 million, 2007). Disbursed more than one billion $ students loan before financial crisis. Today, we are 2nd biggest student lender in Europe. We currently offer online mortgages too in 37 states of USA.
My current mission is to give away whatever I have to the society. It is a very difficult task. I hope I achieve this mission peacefully and happily.
As I write this in November 2016, shortly before a nostalgic reunion with my batch mates - the Class of 1976 from IIMA, firstly I wish to acknowledge, respect and honour the tremendous foundation the Program gave me as I journeyed into living the life of an independent adult.
