Leaving the portals of IIMA, I set up base at Lucknow - my first assignment at a not so glamorous public sector organization UP Electronics Corporation (UPTRON) in the marketing function. 

 

Learnt the ropes of ‘babudom’ working - long winded noting on green sheets, answering endless audit objections and waiting for meetings in the secretariat etc. 

 

From then on it has been a roller coaster ride spanning a range of industries and verticals in seven companies most notable amongst those being the EICHER group, Arvind Mills finally signing off with Tata Consultancy Services. 

 

I started off as a ‘field salesperson’ and remained one till the very end excepting for the last five years or so at Tata Consultancy. 

 

Travelled extensively covering almost every state in the country finally settling down in Delhi which was my last port of call. 

 

Post retirement, did a short stint in a startup as a consultant before deciding to break away from the ‘nine to six’ syndrome and finally calling it a day. 

 

Life now is ‘all play and no work’, play implying acting as a free advisor to those who do not need it, running errands, occasionally lecturing at ‘C’ grade management institutes which dot the NCR landscape and spending quality time with my grandson. 

 

The Family – wife Kanika has been a great homemaker all along. Esha, my daughter is a chartered accountant and works for KPMG. Her apartment is not very far from where we stay - helps us to do our share of ‘babysitting’
