I, Amal Datt Dhru, hereby state that what is stated below, to the best of my knowledge and belief, gives a True and Fair picture of my life after graduation from IIMA. I am thrilled to sit in this time machine.
At the Institute, I remember having learnt decision making skill, when I gave up my run for I Scholl, exactly after Mid Term.(Learning for the sake of learning, working for the sake of working …etc, the heart of Karma Theory, really impressed me).
Soon after graduation, I joined Sarabhai Group, to remain a localized Gem and fortunately had a great opportunity to teach ManAcc I and II at IIMA from 1978. This opening provided a good reason to be based out of Ahmedabad, besides the fact that Sarabhai Group provided a challenging assignment to work as the Exe Asst to the MD and Chairman.
Even during those days, jobs were quite easy to get and taking that as an insurance cover, I decided to take a plunge into independent practice. So soon after getting five years of work exp, (a normally prescribed work exp), I started my own practice as a CA. I thought as an independent practitioner, I will have no Boss, but soon I realized that every client was my Boss.
Pure consulting , in those days, was a new animal and soon I learnt that I need to take up the routine CA practice to keep afloat, and till date, I keep floating and continue as a Consultant amongst CAs and CA amongst Consultants.
With the grace of God, have done fairly well, as a professional and have penned all my academic leanings in my three editions of “financefundas” (the third edition is soon to be released with U Tube back up).
Have kept Ahmedabad as my base all throughout and have been quite active socially.Politically, I am a believer in Mixed Economy (Free Market with some intervention of the Government)
Coming to personal Life, am blessed with two lovely loving daughters (Kanan and Kelly) and equally loving and caring wife, Smita. By the way, both Kanan and Kelly are Fulbright Scholars and doing very well as un conventional Lawyers. They have published quite a few Comics to educate masses about Common Laws. Smita is highly patriotic and has penned a couple of books for children.
We all are fond of travelling and regularly do a fairly decent job to stay content. Recently I have regained my hunger for reading. Am very fond of reading various types of books, particularly on Hindu Religion and Political Economics. Am a strong believer in the Karma Theory and strongly believe that Health is Wealth without Tax!!
