I was hired by Citibank India out of IIMA in 1976 and worked in Athens, Delhi and Madras until March 1979. A random conversation led to the opportunity to move to the Chase Manhattan Bank initially in Athens followed by assignments in London, Bahrain, Taipei and New York. I left Chase in 1994 to move to Singapore with CIBC World Markets.

We loved back being in Asia. With the 1998 Asian debt crisis, many of the Asian economies were in a restructuring mode and reluctantly we had to pack up and move once again. I had the choice of moving to London or Toronto, which was one of the easier decisions I had to make in the peripatetic life and career I had unwittingly chosen.

The initial thought was that we would stay on in London for 2-3 years and head back to New York, a plan which is still very much work in progress. I was with Lehman Brothers in London when the curtain came down in Sep 2008 and subsequently was an advisor to the Lehman estate until December 2014. I am now a partner in Delphinus Advisory Limited, a boutique advisory firm specialising in capital markets related work. I have also taken on a few non-executive board roles with UK companies.

We enjoy living in London despite the Brexit-induced angst and uncertainties. Bereavements, ailing parents, family reunions, weddings and such bring us back to India quite often. Ambitions of playing more rounds of golf and getting my handicap down remain elusive with the time commitments of entrepreneurship, board meetings and travel.

Chitra and I have two daughters - Sveta and Amia. Sveta is with Ogilvy & Mather in NYC. Sveta and her husband Joe have two girls – Saana who is 5 years old (going on fifteen!) and Simi who is going to be a year old soon. Amia is a professor of philosophy at University College, London and that means we get to see her a little more often than Sveta and our granddaughters.
